Taste the Sweetness of Sugarcane in NYC

We couldn’t go to New York City without taking advantage of a chance to go on a double date with one of J’s best friends.

When you’re in a relationship, it’s so important to meet the people that your significant other classifies as friends. Why? Because those friendships can either make or break a person. They help form the thoughts, ideas, and desires of the individual in some way. You may not realize it but who you surround yourself with plays a big role in who you become.

And what better way to get to know another layer of J than to connect with the company he keeps.

And it was a great experience! We had an intellectual, thought-provoking conversation about the power of investing while sipping on some of the sweetest flavors of goodness around town.

Shout out to J’s good friend for recommending the Sugarcane Signature Sorrel Cocktails! It had me saying “my,my,my!”. I asked our waiter to bring me something light and she delivered a Sorrel Colada. It was one of the best and most refreshing drinks I ever had. Great summertime drink!

J ordered the Sorrel Rum Punch and stated that it was a very smooth drink. You couldn’t really taste the alcohol until the last sip.

Next up…Entrees!

J ordered the West Indian Fried Chicken with Honey-Lime Drizzle that came with two sides. The sauteed cabbage and steam broccoli were a perfect addition to J’s meal.

I actually got an appetizer instead of an entree because it looked soooo delicious! The Jumbo Shrimp tacos came with a sauce that just made you want to devour the entire taco in one bite. But I had to remain classy since I was on a double date. Plus, the shrimp were really jumbo so you have to take time to chew it. It may take you away from talking for a few seconds but you’ll savor every bite.

Overall, we enjoyed the combination of quality food and good people. This was the perfect setting for a double date because it was an intimate, cozy setting that allowed us to be close while we listened to a mixture of top 40 and classic R&B songs.

Would we go back? Yep! The Sorrel Colada is calling my name.
