Romantic Dinner at TĪNG in Shangri-La London!
I’ve never heard other travelers bragging about the food in London but it’s obvious that people missed this delicious food gem that I stumbled upon in London. It satisfied my every craving and has expanded my food palette!
Meet the TĪNG Restaurant located in the Shangri-La London Hotel. You’ll want to save this name as a reminder of the food you need in your life once you step foot in London. The TĪNG Restaurant is a five-star food experience that is worth every pound.
Conveniently located around the corner from the London Bridge station, you’ll get some of the best views of the city as you take bites of delicious delicacies on the 35th floor.
My partner and I had a 3-course meal with wine pairings. Highly recommended! The Sommelier did a fantastic job of serving the right wine with the meals while educating us on the wonders of each wine during every course.
Before the food is served, you’ll get a bowl of sourdough rye bread. Who doesn’t love that? Absolutely delicious! You just have to make sure you save your appetite for the main dish.
THE STARTER
Me: Dorset Crab w/ cucumber and granny smith apple sauce
J: Chalk Stream Farm Sea Trout w/ fennel, ruby grapefruit, and avocado
The light and refreshing taste of the Dorset Crab is a great way to awaken your tastebuds! This muffin-style white crab was oozing with granny apple juice on the side and topped with my favorite cucumbers. Once you get to the middle, you’ll be exposed to a creamy filling that makes you want to close your eyes and savor every taste. This seductively desirable starter was paired with an Alvarinho wine of Portugal.
J was excited to try the Chalk Stream Farm Sea Trout. Topped with fennel, ruby grapefruit, and avocado, you’ll get a balance of sweet and savory that will cultivate your senses. J couldn’t stop saying how delicious his beginning bites were and how it reminded him of a “meatier smoked salmon steak“. The sea trout was paired with a German Reisling wine that helped to easily digest the smoked sea trout.
It’s safe to say that our dishes were the best warmup bite to prepare us for what was next!
THE MAIN COURSE
Me: Monkfish with coconut and lemongrass sauce, brown shrimp, and spring onion
J: Cotswolds Chicken Breast with Sweetcorn Miso, Girolles, and Woodland Sorrell
It was hard to choose what I wanted for my main course. My intuition led me to the Monkfish and now I’m going to listen to the voice inside my head more often. Absolutely delicious! The coconut and lemongrass sauce added the right amount of flavor to the fish. Each piece swiftly glided down my body and made me come alive. More, please!
Of course, The Cotswolds Chicken Breast caught J’s eye and satisfied his cravings. This dish was topped with Sweetcorn Miso, Girolles, and Woodland Sorell. Tasty! It was accompanied by Sauteed New Potatoes that was topped with Truffle Creme Fraiche. J allowed me to grab a bite of his food and it was yummy! This scrumptious combo was paired with Pinot Noir.
THE DESSERT
Me: Cherry Pavlova with cherry sorbet and pistachio cream
J: Vanilla Baba
My sweet tooth always craves dessert so I was excited to see what was in store. And I can definitely say “yeah mama!” to the cherry pavlova. This dessert was everything I wanted but didn’t know I needed. The heavenly flavors of the cherry pavlova just melted into my mouth. Every taste reconnected me with the true meaning of life and I felt so grateful for everything that my taste buds had experienced. That’s the power of great food!
J couldn’t stop smiling and there was a moment of silence. That’s when I knew the Vanilla Baba hit the spot. The dessert was the perfect mixture of sweetness with a natural finish. The peaches, which calmly covered the creamy ice cream, tasted like a naturally mixed dessert straight from an organic garden of vanilla flavors. This dessert was paired with the sweet Savignon Blanc to elevate the taste of the dessert.
