Love in London: Our 72 Hour Adventure

Eeeeek! We booked a one-way flight to London for tonight!

People always ask, “How do you do it?”

Well, you don’t always need millions of dollars to live your dreams. You just have to be strategic and intentional about where your money goes.

So, we don’t save for travel. Nope! We’ll be writing and talking about that later.

You can click here to find out how we use credit card rewards to travel!

Instead of saving for travel, we do these things before we book our travels:

  • Pay bills ✅
  • Contribute to our retirement accounts ✅
  • Invest ✅

You have to build your foundation so you can have the freedom to do the things that matter most to you!

So after the finances were taken care of, we were free to explore London with our Oyster card and no worries!

Travel Tip: Don’t forget to get an Oyster transportation card if you plan to travel around London!

Day 1 in London

It rained! But we were still able to make the most of our day.

Borough Market

If you’re ever in London, you have to check out the Borough Market. It is one of the largest and oldest food markets in London! They also offer fresh produce and food options for vegetarians!

So here’s the price breakdown of items I had at Borough Market to help you plan for your trip!

Borough Club Sandwich = 8.50 GBP
Sangria = 4.50 GBP
So put away 20 GBP for this adventure! If you have money left over, invest it in your retirement account. You can also pick up a copy of Dividends are a Queen’s Best Friend so that you can learn how to invest and receive frequent dividend deposits in your account!

Hay’s Galleria

Walk down the street from the market and you’ll find Hay’s Galleria. It’s a beautiful mixed-used building with shops and restaurants.

You can also capture some pictures by the red telephone booth!

TING Restaurant in Shangri-La At The Shard London

3-Course Meal with Wine Pairings!

Why didn’t anyone tell me how good the food was in London?!

I’ve only heard bad things but was pleasantly surprised when I had dinner at the TING Restaurant at The Shard. And the view is AMAZING!

Day 2 in London

Notting Hill

It’s a famous, vibrant area in London. Notting Hill is an affluent area where you will find the bohemian Portobello Road which is known for vintage fashion and antiques.

I also found the beautiful pastel-colored homes in Notting Hill! Absolutely beautiful!

The best part about Notting Hill is that it is free to explore! Just grab money for food and you’re good to go!

After perusing the streets, we ate vegan nachos and burrito! Delicious! And it was less than 20 euros!

Day 3 in London

Now, do you believe you can travel the world without spending your money?

Well, the proof is in the pudding on Day 3. We had a full day of activities and just spent money on food. We got off the Waterloo train stop and there were surprises at every turn. Here are some of the things we did:

Watch Big Ben Tick

Surprise your eyes with the London Eye

Visit the National Art Gallery ✅

Get 10,000 Steps in the Whitehall Gardens ✅

And no savings were required for this trip! In our book, savings are for investments and retirement. You can use money strategies like this one to fund your lifestyle!

When you know your numbers and have control over your money, you can be free to do the things that matter most to you.
