Living Life in Lake Geneva (with less than $200!)
Sometimes you just have to get up and go where your heart leads you – even if that means getting up at 10 AM on a Wednesday to go to Lake Geneva.
Ok, I know you read that BIG, shiny 10 AM all over the first sentence. And you know what? You read it correctly! There are some days when I get up at 10 AM…and there is no shame in my game. I have created a lifestyle full of freedom and flexibility. But I sure did work my tail off to get on this path.
So if I want to wake up and go to a different city, I just do it.
That’s exactly what WE did on one beautiful Wednesday morning.
And when I say we, you know I’m talking about the hardworking, handsome, young finance enthusiast that I have by my side.
I find it so amazing that when I called him and said “I want to go to Lake Geneva”, he just replied, “Let’s go!”. Two hours later, we found ourselves cruising the streets of Chicago, admiring the nearby attractions as the wind gave us another burst of freedom on the road to Lake Geneva, Wisconsin.
When we arrived, we briefly walked around and created fun videos like this one below.
FOOD in Lake Geneva
Of course, we had to eat. So we went to a restaurant adjacent to the hotel called Sprecher’s Restaurant & Pub.
After our two hour drive, we were starving. So I didn’t want to just settle for the cheapest dish on the menu. Yes, we were on a budget but my taste buds were craving something that I knew had a good chance of being appetizing.
Introducing the Grilled Salmon topped with seasoned lemon butter served with cranberry pecan rice and Chef’s vegetables.
My mouth is watering just from typing the sophisticated blend of ingredients. I want some now!
It was really, really delicious. If I go to Lake Geneva, it will be hard to turn away from this dish. I know you’re supposed to be a bit adventurous when you go to the same restaurant twice, but I’m willing to break all the rules for this meal.
Now J couldn’t resist a good old hearty turkey burger. So as I’m typing this and looking at the picture, I just had to ask J “So how did it really taste???” He was satisfied, stating that the food was filling (exactly what a man always looks for in his choice of entree) and it was a good grade of meat.
And all I wanted to know, “Was it better than that juicy, grilled salmon that refreshes every part of your desires?”
Exploring Life on the Lake
After we ate, I had to increase the steps on my FitBit by walking on the Lake. Trust me, I wasn’t complaining.
What a beautiful site! It was just us and the water walking on a Wednesday afternoon.
Then I got tired of walking and just had to sit (laughs). No, I really did want to reflect.
I couldn’t help but to think about how beautiful life is and can always be. Unfortunately, most of us don’t give ourselves permission to experience that beauty. We complain, make excuses, and blame others instead of making things happen. Here’s the reality: we just need to take action. We can have anything we want as long as it aligns with the core of who we are.
What type of life do you want to live? Think about it.
You have to be so bold in your desires that you’re willing to give up every ounce of doubt in order to get what you seek.
I want to speak, write, and show others the endless opportunities that are available.
Then I look at J’s photo and wonder what in the world he is thinking. I am definitely not a mind reader but I can bet $1K that he is pondering long-term interest rates or thinking about historical economic events and how it impacts us today. Seriously, he wakes up at 4 AM to read the reports from the Federal Reserve Bank and hear the most recent monetary policy updates.
He is truly one of a kind.
From the look in his eyes and the calmness of his posture, I know that he was in a peaceful state of mind doing what he does best.
