Date Night: Brews With Bae In Chicago

Fun Dates to Get to Know Your Mate

It doesn’t matter if you’ve been sipping tea with your mate for 2 months or 2 years, it’s important to go on fun dates to keep the relationship spicy.

And if you live in a big city like Chicago, there is always something going on.

If you don’t know where the action is, you better ask somebody!

That’s why we are here. We are always exploring the newest spots to help you and your relationship.

So where did we go this time?

Well, we decided to do something different. Really different for my taste buds.

The Collective Arts Brewing launched in Chicago on October 16, 2017, and we were invited to attend a VIP launch event on October 18th at Canvas Chicago.

“Collective Arts Brewing is a grassroots craft brewer based in Ontario that aims to fuse the creativity of craft beer with the inspired talents of emerging artists, musicians and filmmakers. Matt Johnston and Bob Russell founded Collective Arts Brewing on two beliefs: The first that creativity fosters creativity. And the second, that creativity yields delicious pints.”

Our First Trip to A Brewery

We had a chance to try the newest flavors of beer, meet the brewmaster, CEO and some local artists. Each beer is considered a work of art, showcasing the fabulous limited edition designs of artists on the outside of the can and brewing a well-crafted beer flavor on the inside.

Surrounded by a group of eclectic individuals, we got samples of different microbrews while being inspired by local artisans.

I asked for the fruitiest flavor available. Yep, I sure did. I’m a rookie so I had to go light.

And the lightest flavor was …Go se! It was truly a surprising burst of flavor to my taste buds. It was nothing like I expected. As contrasting as it sounds, the energy rush was tranquilizing.

The average beer drinkers guzzle down bigger brands because they have been accustomed to do so. But microbreweries such as collective arts gives you a different outlook on the industry.

A Chance to Painting the Wall with My King

Every person who stepped foot into the Collective Arts Brewing event had a chance to paint the walls with a color of their choice.

And if you’re like me and needed additional help, Afro Killer (I have a filling that I butchered his name) was there to assist! Well, his real name is Keith Smith if you want to find him. Let me know if you know who this talented artist is!

The goal of this wall was to provide something interactive for the participants to do at the event. It was a paint by numbers situation in a free-form way – whatever that means. The template was drawn before we got there so all we had to do was go crazy with the color and make the painting come to life.

I just have to add that J looked fabulous in this picture. I was so excited to capture him in action. You can clearly see his Intense thought and precision as he let his creativity lose in between the lines of the images.

Music Always Set the Mood

When you have beer and artwork, you definitely need to have a DJ to keep the party going. And the talented DJ that was present (she was a woman and she was sooo good) made sure everyone was grooving.

The music was the perfect blend of the 80s, 90s, and dancehall. It was filled with millennial pop hits.

What I Learned About My Mate

I learned that he is a great model for events like this. His hat and attire were perfect. He looks like a real artist in the picture above.

Well, what else would I expect? He is a creative!

I also learned that he is always ready for an adventure! Even if we have no idea what to expect…

Well, we can cross brewery off our list of fun dates. I can’t wait to see what’s next!
