Birthday Treats On a $7 Budget

I just celebrated another birthday. Woohoo!

Now I usually have to allocate at least $1000 to prepare for my birthday. Yeah, birthdays are serious.

Well, this year I took my number crunching skills to the next level and realized that $1000 for a few days of adventure (that I could get any day of the year) doesn’t make sense at all!

Part of responsible adulting is learning how you can be smarter with your money. I could use that $1000 as a stock or property investment that could multiply in value instead of wasting it and increasing someone else’s value. I realized that’s the best gift I could give myself – financial sense! That is how you truly live your best life now without struggling later.

So I vow to do whatever it takes to break financial records this year by watching my money like a hawk (haha!). And it starts with my birthday!

Results: I normally spend at least $1000. Well, on February 7th, I spent less than 1% of that and still enjoyed myself with family and friends! Yessss! $7!!! And the majority of that $7 was given away in the form of tips.

Here’s how you can make the most of your birthday without spending unnecessary money!

Get Free Food On Your Birthday

First Stop – Denny’s!

No special codes or app download required. Just show your ID to prove it’s your birthday and you’ll get a free Denny’s Original Grand Slam Breakfast!

Build Your Own Grand Slam Breakfast

If you want a drink, you’ll have to pay for that yourself. I didn’t need a drink but I ordered a raspberry tea so that I could give the waiter a bigger tip!

Snacks on Wetzels Pretzels!

Download the app before your birthday and you’ll get a coupon sent to you via the app!

You don’t have to use your free pretzel reward on your birthday. You have at least 3 months to redeem it! So this can be an after birthday treat 🙂

Choose Any Dessert at TGI Fridays!

What’s your favorite dessert? Visualize a delicious year ahead as you bite into a dessert that fills your hearts most passionate desires.

Drinks at Starbucks!

I had plans to create a birthday vision board at Starbucks. Well, that didn’t work out like I planned.

After eating all of those treats, I was exhausted. So I went to Starbucks and grabbed my Venti Peppermint Chai Tea Latte to go!

Sign up for Starbucks Rewards and you’ll get a special code on your special day: ) You must join 30 days before your birthday!

Victoria’s Secret Gift

So if you’re an Angel cardholder, you know that Victoria’s Secret loves to spoil their customers with gifts as often as possible.

And your birthday is no exception.

I received a $10 rewards card to be used on something in the store valued at $10 or more. Well, I was determined not to spend a penny over $10 and I succeeded!

I took home the Bombshell Rollerball because I liked the packaging.

HAIR – My Biggest Expense Reduced to Zero!

Hair used to be one of my biggest birthday expenses. It’s insane!

And the maintenance is real! If you have dry hair, split ends, itchiness, color, new growth, natural hair, or sweatiness, the costs can be astronomica.

If only I could get $10 every time someone wanted to touch, stare, caress, or inquire about my hair. I would definitely be a billionaire right now. So I typically keep it as simple as possible to avoid the nonstop interviews (I usually don’t mind. I love to share my hair experience with others just as long as they are willing to show and tell, too!).

Mission Accomplished!

I achieved my financial goals on my birthday. I got free food and gifts for less than $7.

Woohoo! I’m starting to feel like a financially responsible adult and it’s an amazing feeling.

It’s a feeling of freedom. The ability to not attach spending to my self worth but to use my money choices to build my net worth.

It’s a feeling of power. I don’t have to do what others are doing to feel strong and empowered. I can accept who I am and not spend money on things that don’t make me my happiest, most harmonious, and best self.

It’s a feeling of love. When you love your life and what God has given you, you don’t have to search for love in materials things.

I’m so excited about the year ahead and the opportunity to accomplish more financial goals. Come on over to Wealthy Women Daily as I share more #moneyhacks, passive income strategies, and investing adventures. Subscribe here to get in on all the action.
